Comstock Resources Inc. is doubling down on its massive far western Haynesville stepout north of Houston, adding 198,000 net acres bringing its leasehold to a 450,000- net acre position, it reported May 1.
It added four more western Haynesville wildcats as well: Glass RT #1, Harrison WA #1, Farley GD #1 and Ingram Martin #1, all landed in the super-deep, super-high-pressure Haynesville that underlies the more historical target in the area: the Bossier.
On the Glass well, Comstock made a 9,292-foot lateral at total vertical depth (TVD) of 18,346 feet. The initial production was 36 MMcf/d.
The Harrison came on with 35 MMcf/d from an 8,866-foot lateral at 19,361 feet TVD; the Farley, 38 MMcf/d, 9,837-foot lateral at 18,700 TVD; and the Ingram Martin, 38 MMcf/d, 7,764-foot lateral, 17,748 feet TVD.
The play, which Comstock opened, has produced more than 70 Bcf to date from the first 10 wells, is primarily focused in Robertson County, Texas, but extends easterly into adjacent Leon County, Texas.
Of the 10 wells that were turned online by Jan. 31, Comstock operates seven; privately held Aethon Energy, three. The 10 wells’ more than 70 Bcf is from a combined 106 months online.
Comstock’s four newer wells will take its count to 11 online.
